Paul Arciero, professor of health and human physiological sciences, published a position stand titled, "International Society of Sports Nutrition Position Stand: Effects of essential amino acid supplementation on exercise and performance," in the . This position stand serves as the scientific foundation to athletes, dietitians, trainers, and other practitioners as to the benefits of supplemental essential amino acids (EAA) in both healthy and resistant (aging/clinical) populations. The paper was co-authored with Michael J. Ormsbee �02, former visiting assistant professor of health and human physiological sciences.

The oral presentation by Fryou won a New Investigator Award.
